We're Already Building.

The Eagala Model has been changing lives for more than 25 years through a distinctive, ground-based approach that brings mental health professionals, equine specialists, and horses together as partners in the therapeutic process.

Today, we have an opportunity to build on that foundation in new ways. Through BUILD EAGALA: Evidence + Awareness, we're inviting members, practitioners, researchers, horse people, mental health professionals, and friends of Eagala to help advance two priorities that matter to the future of the Eagala Model and the broader field of equine-assisted psychotherapy.

We aren't asking you to help us start something.
We're asking you to help us build on what's already underway.

BUILD THE EVIDENCE

Research Helps Move the Field Forward

Research helps practitioners strengthen their work. It helps referral sources and funders make informed decisions. And it helps the broader mental health community better understand where and how equine-assisted psychotherapy can make a difference.

Eagala has been building momentum, and we're ready to build further.

An expanded Research Committee is developing an open-data connection center to help researchers find existing datasets and opportunities for collaboration.

What Could We Build Next?

In 2027, we want to make existing evidence easier to find and understand, connect researchers with available data and potential collaborators, translate research into useful resources for professionals and the public, and create more opportunities for quality Eagala-related research to be shared.

We don't need to fund an entire research study to move the evidence forward. Sometimes progress begins by making the research, data, connections, and opportunities that already exist easier to find and use.

BUILD AWARENESS

More People Need to Understand the Work

For Eagala's impact to grow, people first need to understand what the Eagala Model is, what makes it distinctive, and why horses are meaningful partners in this work.

That means reaching beyond those who already know us and bringing Eagala into conversations with mental health professionals, referral sources, researchers, funders, veteran-serving organizations, and communities around the world.

Taking Eagala Beyond the Herd

In 2026, Eagala representatives are bringing the Model into new professional conversations, including presenting and sharing information at the NAVWRF Wellness Conference in San Diego.

Eagala has also been invited to participate in a virtual VA conference in early 2027, creating another opportunity to introduce the Model to professionals and organizations serving veterans.

Building Greater Understanding in 2027

We want to create stronger public and professional educational resources, put better outreach tools in the hands of Eagala members and ambassadors, pursue meaningful speaking and conference opportunities, and make information about the Eagala Model and the evidence behind it easier to discover and understand.

Because building awareness isn't simply about more people knowing the Eagala name.
It's about more people understanding the work.
