Adaptive Support Grant (ASG) Initiative The Adaptive Support Grant (ASG) Initiative is delivered through Eagala’s network of Military Designated Programs across the United States. These specialized programs are committed to serving veterans, active-duty service members, and their families through the Eagala Model of equine-assisted services.
In the Eagala Model, horses play an essential role in shaping outcomes by providing immediate, honest, and nonverbal feedback to veterans, creating opportunities for real-time insight and self-discovery without judgment. Findings from Eagala-supported research involving veterans utilizing grant-funded services in 2018 demonstrated meaningful outcomes, including reductions in PTSD symptoms, depression, and functional impairment, along with increases in overall life satisfaction. Through these interactions, participants are able to observe patterns, test new behaviors, and gain clarity around communication, boundaries, and relationships. Because horses respond to authenticity rather than words or roles, the experience supports practical, in-the-moment learning that translates into lasting change beyond the arena.
Through the ASG Initiative, participants benefit from:
